Snowdonia National Park is one of the UK’s most beautiful natural landscapes. It is the biggest national park in Wales and is home to not only the highest mountain in England & Wales (Snowdon), but the largest natural lake also.
There is so much that Snowdonia has to offer, from the vast amounts of activities on offer to its stunning landscapes, making it an attraction to thousands of people every year, but there are 5 places that you should definitely visit.

1. Mount Snowdon
The first and most popular attraction being the famous Mount Snowdon, that has approximately 582,000 visitors annually. Mount Snowdon is the highest mountain in the British Isles outside the Scottish Highlands, at an elevation of 1,085 metres (3,560 ft) above sea level.
Snowdon’s incredible height means that it offers stunning views that cannot be missed out on. There are 6 different routes that can be taken to reach the summit, all of them taking around 6-7 hours to complete; the Llanberis Path, PYG Track, Miners’ Track, Watkin Path, Rhyd-Ddu Path and the Snowdon Ranger Path. Alternatively, there is a railway accessible to those of you that aren’t up for walking – on the Snowdon Mountain Railway. This railway is a tourist railway that travels for 4.7 miles (7.6 km) from Llanberis to the summit of Snowdon, it has been operating for over 100 years. By taking the train to the top, it doesn’t mean that you will miss out on incredible views.

2. Zip World
Another one of Snowdonia’s most famous attractions is Zip World. Zip World is an adrenalin-fuelled attraction, the longest zip wire in Europe; the site contains two zip lines, the ‘little zipper’ and ‘Big Zipper’, which can reach speeds over 100mph. Not only this, but Zip World also has an attraction called Bounce Below, the worlds only underground trampoline playground situated in a cavern that’s the same size as a cathedral. Both of these activities will suit anyone of any age and are great for those of you that are thrill seekers.

3. National Slate Museum
For those of you that are keen to find out more about Snowdonia’s history, there is one museum that you cannot miss out on – The National Slate Museum. This museum is located in the Victorian engineering workshops of Dinorwig Slate Quarry, situated under towering slate mountains. Throughout the day, there are demonstrations, walks and talks available for visitors, and interactive activities also, making it a fun day out for children too. When in Snowdonia, it is a place that you cannot miss out on visiting, as it gives an insight into the work of many generations of quarry workers & the skills and artistry they have used.

4. Go Below Underground Adventures
Another place that is perfect for those of you that are thrill seekers is the Go Below Underground Adventures. An underground trip in the abandoned mines of Snowdonia, with opportunities to abseil, zip line, boat, scramble and waterfall climb. Not only this but whilst you are taking part in the many activities that there are on offer, you will be learning about industrial history & artefacts throughout the mines – making it an educational but exciting place to visit for all ages.

5. Cadair Idris
The final place that you should definitely consider visiting when in Snowdonia national park is Cadair Idris. This is a mountain in the southern end of the national park and is one of the most popular for walkers & hikers – possibly the second most popular in Wales after Mount Snowdon. There are four main routes that can be used to reach the top of the mountain, two from the north side, Foxes Path & Pony Path, and another two from the south side, Minffordd Path & Llanfihangel y Pennant Path. This mountain offers magnificent views & is well worth a trip.
