Bannau Brycheiniog covers an area of over 500 square miles, and is a very popular destination for outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, and camping.

The area is also known for its diverse wildlife, including wild ponies and rare birds, as well as its rich history and cultural heritage. The national park was awarded International Dark Sky Reserve status in 2013 (the 5th in the world at the time)
