Staying at Bowley International Scout Centre

Bowley International Scout Centre is at the heart of East Lancashire and is situated at the gateway to the Ribble Valley and Pennine Moors. It is also within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales, Fylde Coast and Lakeland Hills.

The centre occupies an area of 47 acres of rolling meadowland bounded by woodland and the River Calder, offering visitors magnificent views of Pendle and the surrounding countryside. The site is easily reached by road, with rail links to the nearby towns of Blackburn, Rishton and Accrington.

Owned and operated by East Lancashire County Scout Council, the centre is available to other youth, church, groups and families to enjoy.

Accommodation available:
32 bedded lodge building.
The Lodge at Bowley is an attractive timber building. It has the capacity to sleep up to 32 people and with divided rooms provides a suitable building for mixed groups. There is also a 2 Person bed room [bunk bed] on the ground floor which is suitable for easy access.
The building has 9 bedrooms [7 x 4 person 2 x 2 person] 6 toilets and 5 showers ( 2 on the ground floor). There is also a easy access toilet on the ground floor.

The multi-function main hall in the building is large enough for groups to enjoy with plenty of space for eating and socialising, as well as doing group activities. Tables and chairs are all provided, as well as the added facility of a digital projector and speakers, making the Lodge suitable for training, conferences, or even movie nights.

From the main hall you have instant access to the fully fitted kitchen, with a fridge freezer, a large hob, and a large oven. The kitchen has stainless steel work surfaces all around as well as a serving hatch.

From the main hall, the side doors can be opened to a spectacular view of Pendle Hill; the perfect area to have a BBQ, with outside picnic tables.
The building is perfectly situated in the centre of the campsite, within easy reach of the Site Office, Bowley Trader, and Campfire Circle, and is ideally suited as a base for on-site activities.

Outside the lodge we have a large, flat plateau which can be used for games or for a large marquee if extra space is required.
If you would like to bring along some tents for extra accommodation, then these may be handily pitched close to the Lodge. Around 30 additional campers may be accommodated on this plot, but, for larger groups, there is room for hundreds more within a few minutes’ walk of the Lodge.
No bedding is provided, so visitors will need to bring either a sleeping bag or bedding and a pillow. Wi-Fi throughout the building.

Bowley Burrows
Newly built, we have 4 wooden Burrows available (all 4 must be booked together)
A step up from camping in a tent, the burrows sleep five/six people in each. You will need a torch/camp light for each, as there is no electricity in the Burrows.

When you book the Burrows, you also have access to a communal hut with basic kitchen, with cooker and fridge/freezer and running water. No cooking equipment is provided.

We also have a marquee available to sit together, eat in etc.

We also offer a wide range of activities – why not whizz down our new zip line, test your aim at a wide range of target activities and much much more – see our website for full details.
