The Bron-y-Gader centre is owned by a small registered charity, The Blackburn & District Outdoor Pursuits Centre Trust, which aims to provide affordable self catering bunkhouse accommodation to groups (particularly, of young people) thus enabling them to experience the great outdoors. It is managed purely by volunteers.
The centre is situated above the Conway valley within the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales and provides bunkhouse style self-catering accommodation as a suitable base for groups of up to 37 people to be self-sufficient. The centre is hired out for single group use so your group will not be disturbed by others.
The 37 beds, mainly in the form of bunk-beds, have mattresses only, so guests need to bring all bedding (usually sleeping bags and pillows). The 37 beds are divided over 6 rooms as follows: 1 room with 3 single beds, 1 room with 1 bunk bed, 4 rooms with 4 bunk beds.
The centre has electric lighting throughout and electric heating in all bedrooms. There is a medium sized dining room that seats 12 and a separate living room with a wood/solid fuel burning fire (wood/fuel is not provided and should be taken by guests).
A large hall doubles as a dining room for larger groups and an activity room.
There is a large drying room to dry your outdoor gear after a wet day in the hills (or at the surf centre).
The fully equipped stainless steel kitchen includes a catering-sized gas hob and oven and enough equipment to cater for a group filling the centre.
Price: £11 per person per night (minimum 2 nights & min charge of £110/night).
