Real outdoor accommodation
A farmer in Wiltshire today announced the creation of the first national “Bunk-Site”.
A cross between a bunkhouse and a camp site, the new bunk-sites feature comfortable bunk-style beds placed outdoors in a camp site location.
The man behind the revolutionary idea, farmer John BarleyMo had this to say,
“We’ve run a bunkhouse for many a year and found it becoming increasingly popular, however at the same time our campsite was getting used less as people preferred the comfort of the bunkhouse. I had a ‘light-bulb’ moment why not give our guests the luxury of sleeping in a bunk, but with the sense of adventure of sleeping outside under the stars. In an instant the bunk-site was born”
Of course it hasn’t all been plain sailing, the farmer has admitted it had taken them a while to find bedding that was highly water and cow proof, but still comfortable and he anticipated that they may have to remove the ladders from the beds to prevent any ‘wildlife’ guest from using the top bunk. “The ducks seem to like it up there”, he said.

The first bunk-site is due to open in Wiltshire this Summer, with 6 bunks (sleeping up to twelve). Guests are encouraged to bring fly repellent, cow repellent and an umbrella in the unlikely event of rain!
Anyone interested in experiencing the bunk-site is advised to check the date of this article before contacting farmer BarleyMo.
UPDATE: Look at the date! Happy April Fools Day! 🙂
