1: Dartmoor
For the second year in a row Dartmoor has claimed the top spot in our National Park countdown. Although it lacks much of the stunning scenery that many National Parks offer, it more than makes up for it in other ways. Dartmoor is one of the most (if not the most) atmospheric place in our countdown. Walking across it in the fog is an experience like no other and with over 100 tors to visit, the foreboding prison, and lots of ghost stories and tales like ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’ (Hound Tor is a must visit!) make it a popular destination with rookie and experienced adventurers. It’ one of our favourite places to visit and if you’ve never been we highly recommend it!
